David agrees, and soon the odd couple finds they really enjoy spending time together.Christie challenges the boundaries of David's closed world and brings out feelings he buried long ago. Oh my. This one worked really well for me. It ticked quite a few of the boxes that I adore in romance - such as slow burn romance, age difference, tension, attraction, understanding the characters ... The only thing I didn't quite like about the novel was the abrupt ending and some of the events in the last chapter. But these complaints are pretty minor in compared to the things that made me fall head over heels in love with the story.

I loved how the relationship evolved slowly but surely. While it was pretty clear from the start that these guys are *it* for one another, it took them time to get to know one another, get over some hang-ups and you know, just let their relationship go where it needed to go without the physical part interrupting the way the emotional connection grew. It took them a whole lot of time before they even kissed, but the wait was totally worth it and when it finally happened, I almost squealed from joy.

I really have no idea what I love about age gaps, but there's something unbelievably captivating about it for me that I simply can't not love it. It just does it for me.

The pacing throughout most of the novel is perfect for me. The last chapter is the only one I'm not really happy about as it left things hanging a bit before giving the reader the HEA in the epilogue. I wish there had been a chapter or a few that the author had spent on the time after the events of the last chapter because, really, it was kind of cliff-hanger-y.

But overall, the story just did it for me. It was just the thing I needed now and I'd easily recommend it to others as well.
