I liked it, but it somehow missed some of the charm I've come to appreciate in Emma Scott's writing. It simply didn't appeal to me the same way and in the end I simply didn't root for the characters like I hoped to. 

Some people say that it is a slow burn romance novel, but I wouldn't call it that because I felt that their attraction was a bit too instant for that. Slow burn romance, for me at least, is a growing relationship where there's no attraction from the beginning, no thoughts of the other person being hot or really attractive. For me, it should be a relationship that evolves slowly - which, I guess, Darlene's and Sawyer's does too, but it has more to do with their secret keeping than their lack of attraction from the get-go.
